Halliwell Manor: The family home of the Halliwell’s in San Francisco. It has been in the Halliwell family for many generations. The Manor is built on both a Wiccan and a spiritual nexus, making it a focus of great powers. The Woogyman is entombed in the basement.
Halliwell, Patricia
“Patty”: The mother of The Charmed Ones and a Witch with the ability
to freeze (particle manipulation). She was killed while attempting to destroy a
water demon.
Though she was first married to Victor she later met and fell in
love with the Whitelighter Sam, conceiving Paige.
Since death Patty has been
summoned as a ghost on occasion, and was even returned to life by the
Whitelighter Elders for Piper’s wedding day.
Halliwell,
Phoebe: Formerly
the youngest, and most free spirited, of The Charmed Ones. Phoebe can be bold and fearless, loving and fighting with
equal passion. Though she recently graduated from College Phoebe has yet to find
a satisfying career path.
Phoebe possesses the ability of premonition, which grew allowing her to see into
the past as well as the future, and also a second power of levitation. She is adept at writing spells, and crafting potions.
Phoebe's love in this life is Cole Turner, the once-evil Belthazor, but in a
past life she was P. Russell, the soul mate of the Warlock Anton.
Halliwell,
Piper: An
accomplished Chef, and now owner of P3, Piper has never had the confidence that
either of her sisters displays. She is the heart of the Halliwell family, and a
natural peacekeeper.
Piper's ability is particle manipulation. At first this power allowed her to
freeze, but later it grew to also allow her to explode objects at will.
Now married to the Whitelighter Leo, Piper has come a long way from the time
when she thought the sister’s powers marked them as evil.
Halliwell,
Prudence "Prue": Prue
was the eldest of The Charmed Ones. Her ability was telekinesis. At first she
channeled this power through her eyes, but as it grew she began to channel it
through her hands. Prue
also later manifested the ability to astral project.
During her life Prue was both a photographer and an antiquities expert. Though
she was only a few years older than her siblings she sometimes seemed more like
a mother, and was fiercely protective of them, having sacrificed her own
childhood to help raise them.
Prue’s childhood sweetheart was Andy Trudeau who was murdered by the demon
Rodriquez. Sadly Prue was also killed by a demon, The Source’s assassin Shax.
Though a reluctant Witch at first, Prue later came to love her calling. Nothing
was more important to Prue than the innocents The Charmed Ones were given to
protect.
Halloween: Also
known as All Hallows Eve, this is a sacred day when the source of all magick can
be tapped. These energies can be used by good or evil, allowing feats that would
otherwise be impossible.
On Halloween the veils between worlds also thin and some demons, with the right
knowledge, are able to return from vanquishing to wreak their revenge. Though
Grimlocks vanquished by the Halliwells were able to return, they were swiftly
dispatched yet again.
Because demons walk freely on Halloween the custom of wearing masks was begun,
to hide the identity of mortals.
Hamilton, Judge "Free Willy": A demon in command of a legion of Guardians. He posed
as a Judge in order to find criminals whom he could appoint Guardians too. He
did this by giving the criminals Athemes that were connected to a Guardian.
Judge Hamilton appeared as an older human man, but this was a mask; in reality
he was a purple, horrible looking demon. He possessed a selection of powers: the
abilities to appoint guardians, which were housed within his demonic body; to
shape shift between demon and human form; and also to toss balls of energy fire.
Whether the Judge was the only way for a Guardian to be appointed, or whether
the Guardians simply used him as a useful conduit to find hosts is not known.
Cole Turner/Belthazor vanquished The Judge in retaliation for and attempt on the
demon hybrids life.
Handfasting: “The eternal joining of two people in love”, Handfasting is a scared ceremony, presided over by a high priestess. Though the specifics or the ritual are not clear it is similar to a marriage, with the parties in question pledging their love and commitment to each other.
Harper, Justin: Former high-school classmate of Piper Halliwell’s and mortal with an interest in Prue. Their short-lived romance ended when the Warlock Zion impersonated Justin in a plot to turn Prue evil.
Healing: The
ability to repair organic damage and eradicate disease. Whitelighters possess
the ability to heal others and their own physical injuries, but cannot cure
animals, revive the dead, or cure themselves of a wound from a Darklighter’s
poison. They channel the power through their hands.
Some Warlocks and demons are also able to instantaneously heal their own wounds.
Hear Secret Thoughts, To: A spell that allows those that cast it to hear thoughts. Prue and Piper cast this spell after suspecting that Dan and Jack may have been Warlocks. To cast the spell one must light candles and then recite these words:
As
flame lights shadow, |
The spell does not have a time limit and must be reversed when it has outlived its usefulness.
Hear Your Hearts Desire, To:
Written by Phoebe Halliwell to answer the question of whether or not she should
marry Cole Turner, this spell summoned past and future versions of Phoebe to the
Manor that remained in the present until they had answered her question.
A piece of paper with ones question upon it must be burnt while the spell was
recited.
My heart is strong,
My spirit weak,
It is an answer that I seek,
A question burns within fire,
So I may hear my hearts desire
Heartbeat Ring: A magickal device that the Cupid’s used to slow time and implant subliminal thoughts in the hearts of potential lovers. It was also used to transport the Cupid’s between this realm and their own. Without them the Cupid’s were essentially powerless. The Heartbeat Rings were also capable of protecting their wearers from harm.
Hecate:
Queen of the Underworld. When in mortal form she was known as Jade DeMoan. The
only way to kill her was with a jeweled poniard. Comes to Earth every 200 years.
Must find a mortal, put him under her spell, and marry him in a sanctified
wedding. Needs to be impregnated. The resulting child would look human, but
internally and mentally would be pure demon. As Jade had made a pact with the
matriarch of the illustrious Spencer family to guarantee wealth in exchange for
a marriage with her son, the child would also be born with all the power and
influence of the Spencer’s at it’s disposal.
A
priest was aware of Hecate’s return to earth and attempted to kill her, but
was killed himself by one of Hecate’s demon guard. The Charmed Ones then
secured the jeweled poniard and eventually used it, with the help of Elliot
Spencer, to vanquish Hecate and her demonic entourage.
Hemlock Killing Spell: A death spell that appeared in the Book Of Shadows when it was turned to evil, a side effect of Prue and Zion’s Unholy Union. Its’ specific words and effect are unknown, but it is assumed that with the books reversion to good the spell was erased from its pages.
High Council: Meeting group of the higher demonic beings. They convene to discuss grave events, such as Warlocks killing demons and stealing their powers.
High Priestess: An advanced magick user, of good or evil origin. Dark High Priestesses are able to shield their activities from location by good magick, but both white and dark Priestesses are able to perform marriage ceremonies. See: Handfasting and Unholy Union.
The Hollow:
Eons ago good and evil were forced to combine their strongest magicks to banish
the threat of The Hollow to an ancient burial ground, appointing a
representative from each side to guard the crypt against tampering.
A formless swirl of black, The Hollow almost decimated all magickal beings when
it was first unleashed, capable of invading hosts and through them feeding its
insatiable desire for magick. Using magickal abilities on The Hollow or its host
is not only ineffectual, but results in The Hollow gaining the power to use as
its own. These powers can then be drawn from The Hollow and invested in another
being, but at great risk of the being’s corruption and destruction. Hosts of
The Hollow retain their consciousness and vulnerabilities, but if they are
vanquished The Hollow will remain unharmed, simply infecting another host. The
more magick The Hollow consumed, the stronger it became. Left unchecked it was
capable of destroying both the mortal and demon planes.
The
Hollow was able to materialise at will, moving from place to place, or crossing
dimensions as it chose. When it was weak and newly released The Source had some
control over it, calling it back to him once it had gathered powers and holding
it in the only thing capable of containing it; an ancient box crafted for its
imprisonment. The box could hold The Hollow temporarily and even draw it from a
host, but to permanently banish it back to its tomb two beings, one good, one
evil, must combine to recite the binding incantation inscribed on its side. Once
bound any magickal powers The Hollow had drained would be returned to their
owners, providing they still lived.

Hughes, Charlene: A former classmate of Phoebe Halliwell’s that was killed by a Libris demon. At first she could not accept that she was a ghost, but with the help of the sisters was able to move onto a higher plane. Unlike most ghosts Charlene was able to quickly master the ability to move objects and float, as well as make herself heard by certain mortals.
